Tiger Woods Dubai

Dubai, bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, between Oman and Saudi Arabia is one
of the seven Emirates and the most populous city of the 83,600 sq km United Arab Emirates
(UAE)( which is only a bit slightly smaller than Maine) . Dubai has attracted attention through
its real estate projects like The Palm Jumeirah, The World and it’s sports events.

Maybe these were some of the reasons why Tiger Woods decided to build his first golf course
named the Al Ruwaya there also. That was last year. This year is a whole different story, due to
the economic meltdown in the United Arab Emirates. The project have been put on hold and
pushed back the scheduled opening date 6 month. “It’s six months as of right now,” Woods
said in an interview at the Memorial. “It’s going to be behind schedule. Obviously, the economy
has turned over there and they’ve slowed down construction because of it.”

Sources in Dubai confirmed that Tiger Woods Dubai‚ a multi-million dollar development with
its 22 “palaces”‚ 75 “mansions”‚ 100 “luxury villas” and a high-end hotel – will be delayed
indefinitely. The opening has been pushed back to 2010 or even later. I guess nowadays
even having the # 1 golfer’s name on your project isn’t 100% guarantee for financial success.

An other Golf movie?!

I guess Hollywood never learns from its mistakes. Is it really necessary to make an other mediocre
Golf movie? Why can’t you just accept the fact that you will never going to make an other
Caddyshack!
The latest attempt from Hollywood is called, Parfection: The Golf Movie (currently in production,
with no release date set yet.)

parfection: the golf movie

parfection: the golf movie

The story is as promising as the talent showcased in it.
Really i guess besides Dean Cain there is NO ONE in
this thing worth mentioning!
The plot: Erik, played by Steve Talley (?!) a highly gifted
golfer but radically-undisciplined college-undergrad
finds his world drastically altered after losing a bet to
a sadistic plastic surgeon. Eric’s bad-boy attitude
lifestyle comes to a screeching halt as he loses his
money, his girlfriends and his dignity. Taking a long
shot Eric fights to rebuild his life and become the
man he should have been all along.
Wow, it sounds very promising (NOT!) . I can’t wait
to see this thing to hit theaters!

To be fair to Hollywood, there are some Golf movies
worth mentioning besides the ones we all know.
here is a short list of them in no particular order
you might actually enjoy.

This first one i’m sure really doesn’t need to be introduced. #1: Caddyshack (1980) featuring Bill Murray,Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield.

#2: Tin Cup (1996) featuring Kevin Costner, Rene Russo and Don Johnson.

#3: Happy Gilmore (1996) featuring Adam Sandler, Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen.

#4: Follow the Sun (1951) The inspiring film biography of the courageous champion golfer Ben
Hogan
featuring Glenn Ford, Anne Baxter and Dennis O’Keefe.

#5: Dead Solid Perfect (1988) (TV) is a film following the life of a professional golfer on the PGA
Tour, featuring Randy Quaid, Kathryn Harrold, and Jack Warden.

#6: The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000). Directed by Robert Redford, based on the same-titled
1995 book by Steven Pressfield. The movie is about Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon), a one-time
golfing sensation whose spirit is broken by the experience of fighting World War I, and who
thereafter returns to his hometown of Savannah, Georgia.

#7: Bobby Jones Stroke of Genius (2004) The life story of Bobby Jones starring Jim Caviezel.

#8: The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005). A golf drama based on the true story of the 1913
US Open, where 20-year-old Francis Ouimet defeated his idol, 1900 US Open champion,
Englishman, Harry Vardon. The Movie was directed by Bill Paxton, and features Shia Labeouf
(of Transformers fame) and Stephen Dillane.
