Mickelson may not play Bethpage Black!

Sadly most of us have known someone in our lives who has battled cancer.
Our celebrities are no exceptions. The latest victim to the illness is 37-year old Amy Mickelson, wife
of Phil Mickelson, and a mother of three. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and most
likely will require major surgery.
Dear Amy, we would like you to know that
we are praying for you and your family,
and wish you all the best and a swift
recovery during your trying times.
Support has poured in from everywhere,
and the world’s No. 2 golfer took notice.
John Daly wore pink pants in the final round of a European tour event Sunday, while Rory
Sabbatini wore a pink shirt to pay tribute to Amy Mickelson when he won the Byron Nelson
Championship. Most other players wore a pink ribbon on their hats. The PGA Tour Wives
Association, with the tour and Crowne Plaza Invitational officials at Colonial, are asking
players and their wives to wear pink clothing Saturday for a ”Pink Out“ designed to show support.
“It is hard to describe how much the outpouring of support has meant to us,” Mickelson wrote.
“When we heard about the Tour Wives, PGA Tour and the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
organizing the ‘Pink Out,’ we both had tears rolling down our faces.”This is such an incredibly
thoughtful gesture, not only for Amy, but for the 200,000 women who are diagnosed with breast
cancer each year.” Still to be determined is whether Mickelson will be able to play in the U.S.
Open in two weeks at Bethpage Black, where he was runner-up in 2002 to Tiger Woods. He is
prominently featured on one of the billboards leading to Bethpage State Park.
“Amy is such a supportive and loving life partner,” Mickelson wrote. “She has always put me and
our family first. Now it’s time for her and her health to come first as we face this challenge
together.”
An illness can be extremely difficult for a family, not only physically but financially as well.
Luckily nowadays there are many organizations and foundations dedicated to help those in need,
thanks to people like Callaway Golf Foundation Ambassador Halle Berry.

Who will be the first to get busted for steroids?

With the latest steroid bust (courtesy of Manny Ramirez of the Dodgers) one can’t help
to wonder which PGA pro is going to get busted first for use. Realistically there is very
little evidence of the potential benefits in Golf. Unless you can maintain your flexibility
as you grow, the bigger you get the worst your swing will become. I guess theoretically
on could benefit from the use of beta-blockers to steady putting, stimulants to improve
concentration, and anabolic steroids to increase muscular power.
Just look at Tiger’s ”before and after” pics
Of course I am just kidding! ( i know i’m
gonna get slapped with a lawsuit one of these days!) Tiger woods actually have been
one of the first ones to endorse drug testing, and as PGA commissioner Tim Finchem
announced a little while back “tough penalties are coming”. Ramirez got suspended
for 50 games. I wonder how “our” guys gonna get punished? If it was Tiger getting
busted, i think it would be fair if he should start each tournament with oh i don’t
know , say 10 over just to even the playing field!
Here is an other player who definitely does not use steroids!
Of course he does use everything else under the sun! You got to love John Daly!
Every once in a while I hear from amateur golfers about how training with weights
makes them feel tight and it ruin’s their golf swing. It’s not true if done correctly!
If it wasn’t the case PGA tour players like Tiger, Vijay, and Phil wouldn’t be doing it!

No Need to Hold it anymore! :)

For years you worked hard learning how to drive 300 yards , then perfect your short game
so you can finally feel confident enough to play anywhere with anyone. The one thing
no one teaches is how to hold a gallon of beer in your bladder! So just what is a classy
golfer to do in this situation? Well, you can be like Mark Wahlberg Entourage executive
Producer, and simply just use Nature as your own personal toilet (see below)
or… since this kind of behavior is still very much frowned upon, why not just pee into your
own golf club. Yes you heard it right! It is called the UroClub. it was invented by Urologist
Floyd Seskin. I actually met the inventor at a trade show not that long ago, and to this day,
every time i think of his invention i crack myself up. The “club” is actually a hollow cylinder
that can hold about half a liter of fluid (a liter =about 0.26 gallon, for those of you who still
don’t know how to use the metric system.) that can be emptied at the end of your round.
The thing even comes with its own towel to disguise your activities.
I am just amazed that the guy not only managed to get financing for his invention,
but there are actually people buying it! Just for the record, we are in no way
whatsoever associated with UroClub or Mr. Floyd. We simply thought his product could
use some exposure. Can you imagine Tiger Woods peeing into one of these on live TV during
a PGA event?! That ‘d be priceless!
Anyhow if you are interested , HERE is the link for his website. (i just hope you are not
going to join our threesome!)
Father of the Year

This year the Father of the Year award goes to a pilot who landed his four-seater plane on an Illinois golf course so his 14-year-old son wouldn’t be late for a tennis lesson. Lake Villa resident Robert Kadera was sentenced to 18 months of court supervision after pleading guilty to criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.Lake County Associate Judge Charles Johnson also ordered the 66-year-old to pay a US$500 fine and perform 60 hours of community service.
No one was injured in March 2008 when Kadera landed on a golf course in Lincolnshire without permission. Police stopped Kadera and his son as they were walking to a nearby tennis club.Kadera, who has been ordered to stay away from the golf course, is still subject to action by the Federal Aviation Administration
One smart way to deal with situations like this is to follow Saratoga Springs Golf Course’s example.
Heber Airpark (K-30) is situated in the center of Airway Meadows Saratoga Springs Golf Course. It is a family owned public facility awaiting your arrival. The paved runway is 2,200 feet. A Hangar is on site and tie down available. 100 low lead fuel is available for purchase. You are welcome to call in for your Tee Time Reservation and advise us at that time you will be flying in with your small aircraft. We can place a golf car at the airport for you so that you can drive over.

Industry leaders take golf’s message to Capitol Hill
On May 13, representatives from GCSAA and allied golf organizations will once again travel to Washington, D.C., for
the second annual National Golf Day.
The GCSAA delegation will include members of the board of directors, Government Relations Committee and staff.
Activities and meetings with members of Congress and the media are planned to communicate golf’s positive impact
on the economy, the environment and charitable causes.
The day will begin with the annual The First Tee Congressional Breakfast. Presenters include two First Tee scholars,
as well as Fred Couples and Greg Norman, captains of The Presidents Cup’s U.S. and international teams, respectively.
Norman is also chairman of The Environmental Institute for Golf’s Advisory Council and a member of The Institute’s
board of trustees. The remainder of the day’s activities will focus on strategic outreach by the allied organizations to
congressional leadership and key congressional committee chairs.
According to a study by The World Golf Foundation Golf 20/20, the golf industry generated $76 billion in direct
economic impact in 2005, and when combined with indirect economic impact, the total rises to $195 billion. The report
also states that the industry generates more than $3.5 billion annually for charities across the country.
National Golf Day was developed after the industry was excluded in the tax relief measure passed by Congress in the
wake of Hurricane Katrina. Golf was again omitted from last year’s relief measures to help citizens and business owners
impacted by floods and storms in the Midwest. Golf was excluded from this year’s economic stimulus bill too.
Representatives from the world of golf will use this opportunity May 13 to share quantifiable data that shows golf isn’t just
a game, but an industry that contributes billions each year to local, state and national economies and employs more than
two million people nationwide.

P10G Set of Iron Heads (Ping® G10™ clone)
The new P10G iron utilizes a deep and redesigned cavity to promote maximum forgiveness and ease of play through out the set of irons. By lowering the center of gravity and positioning weight to the perimeter of the head the moment of inertia is increased to a point where off center shots are straighter and longer. This Ping clone iron is designed with a head geometry that promotes a solid feel with a high soft landing shot to the green. The Oval Port cavity design dampens vibrations on off center shot for added stability, feel and confidence in your game. With the progressive offset incorporated in the P10G Ping clone iron head it is a great iron for all playing levels.
