Dubai, bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, between Oman and Saudi Arabia is one
of the seven Emirates and the most populous city of the 83,600 sq km United Arab Emirates
(UAE)( which is only a bit slightly smaller than Maine) . Dubai has attracted attention through
its real estate projects like The Palm Jumeirah, The World and it’s sports events.

Maybe these were some of the reasons why Tiger Woods decided to build his first golf course
named the Al Ruwaya there also. That was last year. This year is a whole different story, due to
the economic meltdown in the United Arab Emirates. The project have been put on hold and
pushed back the scheduled opening date 6 month. “It’s six months as of right now,” Woods
said in an interview at the Memorial. “It’s going to be behind schedule. Obviously, the economy
has turned over there and they’ve slowed down construction because of it.”
Sources in Dubai confirmed that Tiger Woods Dubai‚ a multi-million dollar development with
its 22 “palaces”‚ 75 “mansions”‚ 100 “luxury villas” and a high-end hotel – will be delayed
indefinitely. The opening has been pushed back to 2010 or even later. I guess nowadays
even having the # 1 golfer’s name on your project isn’t 100% guarantee for financial success.
